Junior & Senior Choirs

The Waratah Girls’ Choir offers a supportive and inclusive environment for singers of all experience levels, from the Junior Choir through to the Senior Choir. Whether you're just beginning your musical journey or looking to develop your skills further, both choirs welcome girls and young women who are passionate about singing and eager to learn.

For the Junior Choir (Year 3 - Year 6), training focuses on building a solid musical foundation, introducing key concepts like pitch recognition, rhythm, aural training, and sight singing. Fun and simple songs are used to develop two-part harmony and confidence, with performances held around five times a year.

The Senior Choir (Year 7 to age 30) offers more advanced training, where choristers expand their musical abilities through a diverse repertoire, including classical and contemporary pieces in multi-part harmony. The emphasis is on performance, teamwork, and striving for excellence, while still enjoying the process of making music together.

No prior experience is required for either choir—just a love of singing and a commitment to learning. Both choirs begin with a simple audition, followed by a short probationary period before full membership is granted.

Waratah Ensemble & Alumni

We encourage all former members of the Waratah Girls’ Choir to stay connected through our Waratah Girls’ Choir Alumni Facebook group. Managed independently of the choir, this group helps keep past members in touch with the current choir and its ongoing activities.

The Waratah Ensemble, established in 2015, is open to all alumni of the choir. The ensemble performs several times each year at both casual and formal events by invitation, including the WGC Annual Concert. It provides a wonderful opportunity for former choristers to continue their musical journey and remain involved with the Waratah Girls' Choir community.
